Searchers continue hunt for missing following mudslide

Searchers continue hunt for missing following mudslide

(Oso, WA)  --  Searchers in Washington state are continuing their hunt for those still missing after a weekend mudslide that killed 14 people.  Reporter Greg Adams says the search is complicated by the threat of even more mudslides.

The debris field is proving particularly tough to access, with some searchers actually needing to be rescued themselves due to quicksand-like conditions.  Adams says 176 people are currently listed as missing, though officials are not sure all of them were actually in the mudslide area when the disaster happened.  Governor Jay Inslee has declared a state of emergency for the area where the slide occurred, which lets National Guard troops take part in the search and rescue effort.
